Prayer

The Combined Hearts

A private devotion for this shrine: Joan's courage, Thérèse's confidence, and the one desire that God reign in every heart.

A Prayer of the Combined Hearts

Composed for this shrine. Not an official liturgical text of the Church.

O Jesus, who kindled one fire in two hearts —

the warrior heart of Joan and the hidden heart of Thérèse —

teach us their single mission:

to see God reign in every heart.

Give us Joan's courage and Thérèse's confidence;

a heart of fire and a soul made little;

that we may fight by love and conquer by surrender.

When we are called into the open, make us brave.

When we are left in the dark, make us faithful.

When we are betrayed, make us radiant.

Saint Joan of Arc, pray for us.

Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face, pray for us.

Combined Hearts of Joan and Thérèse, draw us into the Heart of Christ.

Amen.

Stained glass of two overlapping hearts, one with a sword, one with roses
